Noordplein, a plaza in the northeast of Rotterdam, is usually quiet on an average Tuesday. People pass through, some pausing briefly before continuing on their way. On days like these, the pigeons reign over the square. But come Saturday, everything changes. Noordplein transforms into De Oogstmarkt, a vibrant market where people from all over the city gather, not just to shop, but to connect, to share stories, and to enjoy the lively atmosphere. This isn’t a market you simply pass through; it invites you to stay. There is music, communal tables, and an abundance of food and drinks, turning the plaza into a place of warmth and togetherness.
A city is more than its buildings, plazas, and streets. We, its inhabitants, bring it to life—we decorate it, not just with objects but with our presence, our conversations, and our shared moments. Every Saturday at Noordplein, people bring out their most beautiful decorations, not just stalls and tables, but laughter, friendship, and the simple joy of meeting one another. Perhaps the true ornaments of the city are not the things we place within it, but the people we encounter along the way.
THE EXPOSITION
All of our work was collaboratively presented in a exposition we set up together as a group.
