Het Lang Grachtje in Maastricht, The Netherlands, is a rather ignored historic city centre street. For this street I designed a set of simple yet cohesive elements, that turned it into an attractive playful area, still respecting and emphasizing its historic features.
Below you find pictures of the scale model and construction drawings of each element for this project. For in-depth insight in my working method for research and designing, please review the booklet (in Dutch) by clicking the button below.
The street features three natural pauses created by the walking and biking paths. At each of these resting points, playful design elements are introduced, encouraging traffic to slow down.
The drawings below illustrate the street in its entirety as well as each element individually.
