I approached the course Idea Development with a great deal of freedom. For eight weeks, I explored a different topic each week — subjects without a direct connection, inspired by whatever felt relevant or intriguing at that moment. These themes ranged from weathering and self-reflection to perfectionism, resulting in a very diverse body of work.
Each topic was explored visually, mainly through photography, but also through video and audio. In this way, I expressed my personal view and interpretation of each theme in a visual and intuitive manner.
Because the subjects varied so widely, I began to see this project as a kind of puzzle, yet to be discovered. Each week added a new piece to the picture. In the final weeks, I started to look for the common thread: what connects all these explorations? What do they say about me, about what I find important, and about what I have learned along the way?
Below you find pictures of one of the themes i explored. For in-depth insight in the whole result, please review the booklet (in Dutch) by clicking the button below.
